Once the companion of Buddhist priests, these dogs were transported to Holland to become the companions of aristocrats and kings. Pugs were miniaturised from mastiffs.
Pugs are said to be an acquired habit and they become addictive. Pugnacious and individualistic, this breed is known to be tough and independent, but it is an affectionate family companion, which is characterised by its muscular compact body, flat-face and unblinking stare. Some Pugs suffer from breathing problems and skin disorders. They maybe silver, apricot/fawn or black in colour. They weigh 6-8 kgs and are 25-28 cms in height. | |
